Teen & Family Therapy
Teens have an adventure before them. They want to be independent, to explore and to make their own choices. They are new at this, and often make mistakes. They may be in conflict with their families, their school and their peers. They may struggle with depression, anxiety, or drug/alcohol use. These struggles can impact the entire family. Issues of step parenting and blended families become more intense.
I see teens individually in my practice. Parents and siblings may be involved in sessions as needed. The family is a key resource in the counseling process. All family members are encouraged to actively engage in changing old patterns and try new ways of interacting. I help families learn better ways to deal with conflict, open up communication, and promote positive relationships.
